Frequently Asked Questions

For several decades, the use of animal-derived and synthetic biomaterials in clinical models has not consistently translated into life-saving treatments for human diseases or ailments. Humabiologics offers an alternative by providing biomaterials that are more clinically and physiologically relevant. Our human-derived biomaterials bridge the gap between research and real-world application, enhancing the potential for successful translational therapies.

Humabiologics exclusively collaborates with FDA-registered and American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) accredited organizations to source transplant-quality donor tissues. Unlike other manufacturers who may use biomaterials from inadequately screened donor tissues, we ensure the highest quality through rigorous eligibility criteria based on various medical, social, and health factors. This meticulous screening process guarantees the excellence of the donated tissue. To date, we are one of the only companies offering high-quality native human-derived biomaterials specifically for regenerative medicine applications.

No. Recombinant collagen, i.e. synthesized collagen, for example, is produced by human fibroblasts cells, cell lines, or organisms. These biomaterials do not come from native human tissues and are instead isolated from culture, in vitro. Humabiologics’ biomaterials are distinct in that they are extracted directly from transplant-quality human donor tissues, ensuring their native origin. Although recombinant collagen may have a structure similar to native human collagen, it is not identical. Literature indicates biological differences between native human and recombinant collagen, affecting their performance in certain applications. Moreover, producing recombinant collagen in large quantities while keeping it affordable remains challenging. Humabiologics overcomes these issues by providing native human-derived biomaterials that are more consistent and affordable for regenerative medicine applications.
